I saw a lot of butterflies over the last few days. They are so beautiful and graceful. Here is a simple poem I wrote while reflecting on the butterfly.
Beauty and colour
Wings to fly
Delicate and light
Up so highNo more crawling
Out of the cocoon
Brand new life
The old is a tombFree to float
Carried by wind
Gentle flutter
Freedom begins
Off to explore
Curiosity beckons
Nothing mundane
Thankful, good heavens
The past is gone
A distant memory
Dark cold days
Felt like a cemetery
Now there’s light
Fresh air abounds
Breath it all in
Hear the sounds
Life is a gift
A moment to breathe
Take it all in
Before you must leave
A wonderful world
Amazing universe
A plethora of life
All so diverse
Feel the joy
Embrace the delight
Share the love
Be the light

Butterfly
God’s beauty and colour, painted so bright,
Delicate wings take flight in the light.
Soft as a whisper, graceful and free,
Dancing in the wind above every tree.
No more crawling, no longer confined,
The cocoon lies behind, far from the mind.
A brand-new beginning, a soul born anew,
Overcame the darkness, bursting right through.
Free now to wander wherever winds call,
Rising with courage, refusing to fall.
Each gentle flutter, each beat of your wing,
Carries the promise that freedom will bring.
Off to wonder where Mark’s curiosity leads,
Beyond the familiar, beyond former needs.
No room for the ordinary, dull, or polite—
The world explodes with colour and light.
The past is a shadow that fades with the dawn,
The cold and the sorrow no longer live on.
Those dark, silent seasons that felt like a grave
Have strengthened Mark’s spirit made it brave.
Now there is sunlight, fresh air all round,
A symphony arising in every small sound.
Breathe in the morning, the laughter, the sky;
Let every heartbeat remind you to fly.
Life is a gift, a miraculous breath,
Too precious to waste in the shadow of death.
So open your eyes to God’s wonder you see,
And live every moment completely and free.
What a magnificent, new life to share,
A universe bursting with God everywhere.
From oceans to mountains, from forests to seas,
Each creature belongs in His tapestry.
Feel the joy rising, embrace the delight,
Hold onto hope with all of your might.
Share what is good, let compassion ignite,
Lift others with kindness and be someone’s light.
Like a butterfly, born to soar above,
Transformed by your struggle and carried by love.
Leave beauty behind in each life that you touch—
For the world is brighter because you loved so much.
