Afl

Well, it's AFL Grand Final week here in Melbourne … and what a final it will be with the Hawthorn Hawks taking on the defending premiers, the Geelong Cats next Saturday afternoon. There's sure to be a full house of over 100,000 people at the Melbourne Cricket Ground for what should be a historical final.

The Hawks are looking pretty strong with lots of confidence coming off their big win over St.Kilda on the weekend … BUT the Cats will be ready for them.

My prediction – the Cats by 3 goals!

P.S. I was excited to be able to attend my first ever Grand Final yesterday (September 27th), along with 100,011 other people. What a game it was! Unfortunately, the Cats did not play their best football and ended up losing to the hungry Hawks by 26 points. The Cats had their opportunities but didn't take advantage of them and ended up paying for it. It's really disappointing, especially after they had their best season ever. Thankfully, I think they have another few good seasons ahead of them and I think they'll be back hungrier than ever in 2009. We'll have to wait and see …

  1. GO CATS!!! ALL GEELONG IS A BUZZ WITH CATS’ FLAGS FLYING & POSTERS UP EVERYWHERE! Even all the schools around here have joined in their support! The children and adults alike are ALL so excited! I must admit that I’m right there with them and will be glued to my HD TV set come Saturday! 🙂
BUT! … How awesome it would be if all the people showed the same zeal for God’s house!!! WHAT A REVIVAL THAT WOULD BE! May the church catch the same fervent zeal for Jesus in building His Kingdom.
We sure can learn alot from the CATS’! Such an awesome team to watch! LOVE THEM!
Hawks are good but CATS rule! Bring it home boys! 26 GOALS WIN to the CATS! 😀

  2. Being a Collingwood supporter, I’ve been disappointed for the past 19 years, but since Hawthorn was the first suburb we lived in after moving to Australia, I’d say I have a soft spot for them…
Should be a good match, let’s hope it’s not a boring walkover for either team!

  3. I am an enthusiastic soccer person now swept up in the emotions of the Grandfinals. Having supported the Hawks when I was a child, it’s really good to see them back in the finals after many years in the cold. Go the Mighty Hawks! Maybe one of these days I will pick up the oval ball and have a kick again. Go the Melbourne Victory too!

  4. God has blessed this Grand Final day with perfect Spring weather. Thank You Lord!
Today’s the day to go ALL the way! GO CATS!!!!!

  5. Congratulations to the Hawks. Very disappointed to see the Cats lose, by 26 points, after they worked so hard all season. 🙁 Next year 2009!
