I heard a interesting thought this week highlighting the fact that there are nine fruit of the Spirit but that the one in the middle (with four either side in the list) is KINDNESS (Gal.5:22). As followers of Christ, are we known as being kind? Kindness is to be one of the evidences of God's Spirit at work transforming our hearts. I think we could all show a little more kindness to others around about us and thereby shine the light of Christ a little brighter in a dark world.
"The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness." [Ps.145:17]
"Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart." [Prov.3:3]
"You kindness will reward you; but your cruelty will destroy you." [Prov.11:17]
"This is what the Lord of Heaven's Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another." [Zech.7:9]
"Don't you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean anything to you? Can't you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?" [Rom.2:4]
"He (God) has showered his kindness on us …" [Eph.1:8]
Great thought Mark. A wise person I know suggested to me many years ago before saying something to ask yourself these questions. 1. Is it kind? 2. Is it true? 3. Is it necessary?
Genesis 1 :3 – The first day ‘God said ‘Let there be light’.
Genesis 1 :16 – the fourth day – God made two great lights – the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night.
Now what is this light in Genesis 1:3? Is it kindness, justice, the truth, life, holiness, love, His omnipresence, omniscience, omnipotent attributes, etc – in one?
Does this still apply to Collingwood supporters ?
Hi Mark, love the way you think! I’m making a wedding quilt for my daughter and we are sewing in the fruit of the Spirit and the Love passage in 1 Corinthians. It’s a great way to get it to soak into your heart, especially when you make mistakes and have to do it over :0) Today I sewed: ‘Love is Kind’ and it is reverberating in my soul and here it is on your page! I thank God that He showed kindness to me.
To AndrewN,
Remember Paul and thorn in side and God’s response – my grace is sufficient for you to deal with it.
Well we Collingwood supporters are the thorn to all those you don’t support Collingwood:)
